A note to self.

I’m sitting on the peak of Kumar Parvata, listening to my favourite song, while my friends are getting cute pictures clicked at a distance. I began the year on the top of a mountain, and here I am, concluding it in a similar spot!

I can’t help but reflect on the year and how weird it has been. I don’t know any other way to describe it. It’s been a unique blend — a medley of parties, travel escapades, dancing, and with a liberal dose of lazy and bleh.

I joined Google! The first few months were hard, constantly doubting myself, hesitating to ask questions lest my colleagues discover I am not skilled enough. I eventually found my space and I’ve learnt so much on the way — system design, navigating team dynamics, ownership and what I like. I’m so glad I feel that way as the year ends. (Gives a nice tone to this post, na?)

Admittedly, I fell significantly short in meeting my writing goals and performed poorly in terms of reading. I suppose those will roll over to next year! 😜 Nonetheless, I’m thrilled about sharing some of my written pieces at open mic events. The heartening response not only serves as great motivation but also helps in forming connections with people.

I went on my first girls trip, and all our first international trip at that. It was a complete surprise trip for me, discovering each day as it comes, and I’ll cherish the memories forever. Nothing could have made it better, and it deserves a post of its own.

A snap from my impromptu solo getaway to Wayanad

As I look back on the year, the one thing that’s stands out is all the time I got to spend with the people I love — being there for each other through sickness and health, laughter, tears, cheers, rants and the mundane. It’s also come with a fair slice of lessons that I’ll slowly make a part of me.

As the year closes, I’ve spent so much time talking to new people, pondering excessively, and finally, making my baby steps into “figuring out” the next steps that it fills me with excitement to watch the next year unfold.

We’re now on the way back from the trek, and despite everyone being tired to a point we couldn’t feel our legs, we’re happily playing antakshari and dancing in a moving bus! I guess that’s what life really is — working to reach local maximas, seizing a breather before climbing the next hill, celebrating at all times, because pain is inevitable in life, with good company making all the difference. ❤

Anyway, I can’t wait to crash my bed as soon as I reach.

I’m a sucker for the perfect time to start things and this time new year is on a Monday, so my fellow procrastinators, what’s your excuse this time?

Goodnight.

here’s a balloon me and my friends chased around on the street’s of vietnam.
